Key Word Sign – Edgewater

Support Worker Thembi Key Word Sign training.

Senses Australia welcomes registrations for our next Key Word Sign Workshop in Edgewater

Key Word Sign is used to encourage and support language development in children and adults with complex communication needs. Key Word signing uses a core vocabulary of specially selected words that comprise concepts and ideas considered to be the most appropriate for children and adults with communication and language difficulties. Each word (concept) is matched to a hand sign. Key Word signing borrows gestures and signs from Auslan – the native language of the Australian Deaf community.

This one-day, workshop will help you understand how Key Word Sign is used to support communication and teaches you a basic vocabulary of signs. Registration fee includes the Getting Started with Key Word Sign book.

*Social distancing protocols in line with current government recommendations will be adhered to. If restrictions change outside the control of the participant and the session is cancelled due to COVID, the participant will be able to opt for a future session or complete workshop online via Zoom.
