Key Word Sign is used to encourage and support language development in children and adults with complex communication needs. Key Word signing uses a core vocabulary of specially selected words that comprise concepts and ideas considered to be the most appropriate for children and adults with communication and language difficulties. Each word (concept) is matched to a hand sign. Key Word signing borrows gestures and signs from Auslan – the native language of the Australian Deaf community.
This one-day online, interactive workshop will help you understand how Key Word Sign is used to support communication and teaches you a basic vocabulary of signs.
Registration fee includes the Getting Started with Key Word Sign book which will be posted to you after the workshop.
Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be issued. If 72 hours notice of inability to attend is given, then your booking will gladly be moved to another Senses Australia Key Word Sign Workshop of your choice.
