Better Start

Senses Australia can provide services to eligible children through Better Start following specific guidance provided from the Department of Social Services.

Register through Carers WA (phone 1800 242 636) and then contact Senses Australia should they wish to be considered for this service:

  • Vision impairment.
  • Hearing impairment.
  • Deafblindness.
  • Down syndrome.
  • Cerebral Palsy.
  • Fragile X syndrome.
  • Rett’s disorder.
  • Prader Willi syndrome.
  • Williams syndrome.
  • Angelman syndrome.
  • Kabuki syndrome.
  • Smith-Magenis syndrome.
  • CHARGE syndrome.
  • Cornelia de Lange syndrome.
  • Cri du Chat syndrome.
  • Microcephaly.

Children accessing this service can choose from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, social work, psychology and deafblind consultants depending on the individual needs of the client. The frequency of this service can be flexible in order to meet your needs.

The Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding

Senses Australia has occupational therapists and speech pathologists who are trained to use the SOS Approach to Feeding.
