Early Start Denver Model

Early Start Denver Model for early intervention for autism spectrum disorder.

The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is an evidence-based, comprehensive, play-based approach to teaching, that focuses on helping children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) develop social communication skills.

The Early Start Denver Model is a set of specific strategies that can be used by professionals and parents/caregivers to work with young children with autism spectrum disorder in a natural learning environment. The strategies can be applied to everyday activities such as having meals, getting dressed and interacting with other people.

The Early Start Denver Model emphasises the development of play skills, relationships and language.

This therapy is designed for toddlers and pre-schoolers with autism spectrum disorder or with early signs of autism spectrum disorder. Young children diagnosed with other kinds of developmental and behavioural disorders can also use this intervention.

At Senses Australia, our therapists currently implement Early Start Denver Model practices and by June 2020 we will have an accredited therapist overseeing the programme.
