A Clear View was commissioned by Senses Australia in 2013 to identify the numbers and service needs of individuals who are deafblind in WA and Australia.
A Clear View, the first of its kind in Australia, used the 2009 Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers as its primary source of data and its specific aim was to identify the number of individuals who are deafblind or who have a dual sensory disability, within WA and across Australia and
- their age and gender;
- their geographical distribution; and
- their degree of activity and participation limitations.
A Clear View has eleven key findings.
Senses Australia will use A Clear View in its strategic planning and service development, and will encourage its use for policy change and planning for the provision of services by both Commonwealth and State Governments.
